Messi: “I all I need to win the World Cup”

MessiIt is at home. Leo Messi came to Argentina with his family to spend the Christmas holidays and expressed out loud what he had asked the Magi in his letter .

“After winning it all at Barca this year, all I can overcome this is to win the World Cup, which is what I needed,” Messi said before the media gathered at the Ezeiza airport. A clear message of hope to fans of his country, very touched by the poor image given by the albiceleste selection in the friendly against Catalonia.

And Messi is that its selection is its unfinished business. He’s overjoyed by the success he has achieved with Barca and now dreams of achieving yet another milestone on the orders of Maradona: “I hope to improve my performance in the selection of Argentina, I’m working for it. I want more than anyone to be the best” . Read the rest of this entry »

Germany Youngster, Thomas Müller Winning Golden Boot

width="280"Thomas Müller has admitted he never believed he would win the Golden Boot before the World Cup began.
Germany’s 20-year-old forward, who only made his international debut in March, scored five times in South Africa to clinch the award. David Villa, Wesley Sneijder and Diego Forlan also scored five goals, but the Müller’s three assists saw him edge out the trio.

“This is just incredible for a newcomer to the World Cup. If anyone had told me I’d end on eight scorer points, I’d have said they were kidding me,” Müller said on Bayern’s official website. “It’s an honour of course, but at the end of the day, I’d rather have had the World Cup itself.”
Müller’s performances in helping Germany reach the semi-finals in South Africa also won him the best young player award. Read the rest of this entry »

Iniesta, long live the mother who gave birth!

Iniesta Andres Iniesta goes into the history of Spanish football with the winning goal for the Red delirium led to millions of Spanish. A final three minutes of the mesh manchego topped a pass from Torres. To remove the shirt showed his greatness with a message in memory of Jarque.

Andres Iniesta knew what it was like a moment of glory. It happened at Stanford Bridge in 2008 when an own goal in stoppage of the game against Chelsea, got to Barca in the Champions League final later earned the Catalans.

But he did not expect the manchego is that history reserved for a new period epic. Three minutes from the end of an extension of the agony of Barca took a pass from Cesc, he controlled the ball with great tranquility and sent him with violence within the mesh, meaning the winning goal for the Red is worth a championship. And last but not least was named the MVP of the game as it could be otherwise.

But if anything characterizes the small Fuentealbilla player is his humility. After his goal and at a time when the pulse reaches its peak elastic Iniesta lifted a shirt showing a message that read in memory of the late Dani Jarque, who died last year from heart disease. “Dani Jarque always with us.” Read the rest of this entry »

Spain, King of WC 2010

width="280"After a World Cup final of so toxic a nature the stadium is in need of decontamination more than the regular clean-up. To Spain comes rightful glory as they took this prize for the first time. The side prevailed over a Holland team that was reduced to 10 men when the English referee, Howard Webb, eventually dismissed the defender John Heitinga, with a second caution in the 109th minute. Cesc Fábregas, on as a substitute, fed Andrés Iniesta to score the winner seven minutes later.

Holland were already being rebuked prior to the final but these events were on a wholly different scale and FIFA should take additional action considering the harm done to the culmination of a tournament that means so much around the globe. The losers were overwhelmingly the guiltier party, with seven bookings, not including Heitinga’s pair. Spain’s count climbed to five with late cautions for Xavi and Iniesta near the end. Final WC 2010 : Spain vs Holland

width="280"It is perhaps fair to say that there are not many lasting memories from this World Cup. The biggest stars in the football world have failed to really shine with Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres, Wayne Rooney and the entire Brazil team failing to light up the tournament like the football world anticipated. There has also been a dearth of really outstanding games to be revered.

However two teams have performed consistently well while perhaps more fancied teams around them like Brazil, Argentina, England, France and Italy have flattered so deceive. Or in the case of the last three, not flattered at all. These teams are Holland and Spain. And the irony is they have never played each other in a major tournament before.

So now it comes down to one game. But just who will win the World Cup?

Can Holland Win the World Cup?

Only one team remain undefeated during the entire tournament, the Netherlands. They eased their way through the group phases and then disposed of Slovakia, the mighty Brazil and Uruguay. The world wonders if Xavi is already the best

XaviThe MVP of the game against Germany is just one more reason to see if the brain of the Red already has become the world number one. There are more than enough merit to that of Terrassa has already (finally) the Ballon d’Or

Neither Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka or Cannavaro. The latest Golden Balls are gone from this World Cup much more grief than glory. The only thing that kept year after year and particularly since 2008, is Brazilian, or Portuguese, or Italian, or Argentina. It showed in Terrassa and the Euro which is the best midfielder in the world. At least I had the title of best player in the event of Austria and Switzerland.

Already the world’s best?

After this success was the mastermind of the best Barça’s history, winning all possible titles in 2009 and leading his team in the last league. No more excuses for taking decisions to issue each year which is the best footballer the world decide that once and break the stereotypes present and den, in a fair, the prize culé canterano.

FIFA gave the award for Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the semifinal against Germany and this only served to reopen a debate that is going to sound much more force if Spain finally is a champion on Sunday. In the second round match against the Portuguese also gave the MVP award. Now I have to give him the top prize. The only thing missing.

At the end of this year will be decided with the new format that links the Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player who has been the best. Have to compete precisely against that Sunday will be measured to Spain in the final, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben. If Spain wins, Xavi will be several steps ahead of the two former Real Madrid who have managed to succeed.
