Casillas for the third consecutive time, voted best keeper of the year by the IFFHS
Iker Casillas is still the best keeper in the world. Has become so after the International Federation of History and Statistics consider it as such in 2008 and 2009. This time has passed to Julio Cesar (Inter) for more than 200 points.
The keeper of Real Madrid and the Spanish team, Iker Casillas, has been elected for the third consecutive year by the International Federation of Football Statistics (IFFHS), in a vote which passed the Brazilian Julio Cesar (Inter Milan) and Czech Petr Cech (Chelsea).
The Móstoles has had a great year 2010 and was again instrumental in his team, but especially with Spain in the World Cup where the penalty stopped the Paraguayan Oscar Cardozo in the quarterfinals or hand in hand with Arjen Robben in the final.
So, Casillas gets chained his third award after those achieved in 2008 and 2009, both ahead of Italian Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), and this time he was voted first in a total of 65 countries, giving him a big advantage over its rivals.
Real Madrid goalkeeper got 304 points, ahead by almost 200 to Julius Caesar, who has not earned a key role in the ‘triplet’ of Inter Milan. The third place is for the Czech Petr Cech, Chelsea, and 56 points.
In addition, three national goalkeepers appear in the ‘top 20′ of the vote. Barça Víctor Valdés is sixth with 38 points and David de Gea rojiblanco and ‘red’ Pepe Reina, tied for seventeenth place with five.
